If you're experiencing it flashing againĪfter it has been connected (but not idle), then its lost connection and is trying to re-establish connection to the adapter. When attempting to connect, the Xbox button should flash until it connects and will then stay on until you turn the controller off or you leave it idle (the controller will then turn off). They are the same cable that you used to charge your smartphones before the newer phones switched to USB-C connectors. Thanks for reply and update. You just need a male-to-male USB-A to USB-Micro cable, and any of them should work.
Unless you really need the wireless functionality, your best bet is to just plug it in with a USB cable. I just checked on Amazon and there are quite a few 3rd-party adapters that claim to support Windows 7/8/8.1/10 so that might be something to look into. I think the older, more bulkier, adapter worked with earlier versions of Windows. You'll get it to connect to Windows seemingly with no issues, but once you start gaming, it will randomly drop the connection and/or have random input errors that will cause the game to register something you didn't do on your controller.Īnother person gave you a link to the official Xbox USB Wireless Adapter for PC, but if you get the newest version of that, it will only work with Windows 10. What I think they are trying to say (albeit in the worst possible way) is that the official Xbox1 controller already have Bluetooth baked into them, so if your computer/laptop has Bluetooth enabled on it, you can connect your controller via Bluetooth.ġ.) If your PC/laptop doesn't already have Bluetooth enabled on it, then you will need to by a USB Bluetooth adapter (or dongle) to plug into your computer, and then you should be able to connect your controller.Ģ.) Xbox1 controllers have shite Bluetooth compatibility. If you like Windows 7 the most, like I did too, then you will like Windows 10, it is basically Windows 7 but better in every way.
Honestly, you should make the switch to Windows 10, it is nothing to do with having no self respect, you aren't a slave to your computer lol, it just makes sense yo get the best OS on the market at any given time, and currently that's Windows 10. I usually wait a year or two for all the shit to get ironed out. I agree that Windows 11 isn't looking great to me right now, but I never get the latest OS right away.

You can still do everything with Windows 10 that you could with 8 and 7 and you can do things like networking much more easily. The way to disable cortana is just add a simple entry into power shell and its gone forever and they aren't tracking everything you type, I think you have been taken in by some conspiracy theories. I think you're being a bit dramatic about it mate to be serious. If he wants me to dance through hoops, I guess I have to dance through hoops, and thank him for a shit sandwich.

I've had to install Windows 10 about 1/2 dozen times, and seeing the questions about privacy that it asks, and how it asks them(and tries to trick you) made me swear off it years ago.īut as I said, at this point, I have no self respect, and if Bill Gates wants to read every single thing I type, I guess I have no choice. No to mention with every progressive windows install, the "install questions" become worse and worse, more privacy invasive, and more purposefully confusing/misleading.

And they make everything based on touchscreens and apps now, which I don't use(don't even have a smartphone).Įven Windows 8.1 annoys me, I liked Windows 7 more.

Constantly trying to take away control of your own PC, and make it window's PC that you're just using. I mean, even with Windows 10 to 11, I see the same changes.
And most people saying it's better to just leave it alone, because it can screw up windows if you try to remove it manually.
6 Months ago I still see reddit posts of people trying to use windows power shell to remove Cortana, but failing. Ya, even when googling it now it's hard to find info on it.
